Interim WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez has shared his plans following his upcoming fight against David Morrell.
"What I've learned in boxing is that nothing is guaranteed. You always need a Plan A, B, C, and D in case things don’t go as expected. If, for some reason, we don’t get the winner of Beterbiev vs. Bivol, my plan is to move up to cruiserweight and challenge Zurdo Ramirez for his belts.
We’ve already talked to Zurdo’s team and Oscar De La Hoya, and they are on board with this. So that’s pretty much my Plan B at the moment. Of course, my main focus right now is David Morrell.
The good thing is that we are in the perfect position to make multiple big fights. First, we’ll take care of business against Morrell, and then we’ll move forward," said Benavidez.
Benavidez is set to face Morrell on February 1 in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Gilberto Ramirez has previously expressed interest in testing himself in the heavyweight division.
