Interim WBC light heavyweight (79.4 kg) champion David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) and WBA “regular” champion David Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs) came to blows during their face-off.
The incident began when Morrell refused to shake his opponent’s hand. The two boxers exchanged words, prompting Benavidez to remove his championship belt and shove Morrell. In retaliation, Morrell threw his own belt at David, but missed. Security quickly stepped in to break them apart.
The Benavidez-Morrell fight is scheduled for February 1 in Las Vegas, USA.
