Benavidez Confirms Fight Against Morrell

WBC interim light heavyweight champion David Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) has officially announced his next opponent. He will face WBA regular champion in the division, Cuban David Morrell (11-0, 9 KOs).

The bout is set to take place on January 25 in Las Vegas. Earlier, Benavidez mentioned negotiations with Morrell but noted that this fight wouldn't be next.

In his previous bout, held in the summer of 2024, Benavidez won a unanimous decision over Oleksandr Gvozdyk. Morrell, like his upcoming opponent, debuted in the new weight class with a decision victory, outboxing Serbian-American Radivoje Kalajdzic.
