The "interim" WBC super middleweight champion (up to 76,2 kg), David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs), has apologized to his fans. The American was present at the bout between Gustavo Lemos and Richardson Hitchins. Over the course of the evening, David gave a flash interview during which he appeared to have had too much to drink. Benavidez acknowledged that this was indeed the case and offered his apologies.
"I want to apologize to all the fans and people who saw me drunk that night. I drank too much and made a fool of myself. This will never happen again," Benavidez wrote on his Instagram.
Benavidez's next fight will be for the "interim" title in a new division for him – light heavyweight (up to 79,4 kg). His opponent will be Oleksandr Gvozdyk, but the date of the fight has not been set yet.
