Boxxer CEO Ben Shalom, who promotes IBO middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KOs), admitted he had no idea his fighter planned to smash a raw egg over the head of his upcoming opponent, Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs).
"I didn’t know about it. But looking back, and being completely honest, even if I had known Eubank was bringing an egg—I wouldn’t have stopped him. No way.
It was incredible. At first, I thought it was going to be much worse than it actually was. Even His Excellency [a likely reference to Turki Alalshikh] enjoyed it. This is how fight promotion works for the next generation.
It was iconic and won’t be repeated. Given the history between these two, it was an incredible way to build the fight. Chris does this every time," Shalom said.
Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn are set to face off on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, UK.
During their first face-off, Eubank cracked an egg over Benn’s head, sparking chaos before security intervened to prevent an all-out brawl.
