"The Cut Will Reopen." Ali Bashir on the Usyk vs. Fury Fight

James Ali Bashir, the former trainer of WBA, WBO, IBO, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs), believes that WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) will face problems in his May fight against Usyk due to a cut the Brit received during sparring.

"From what I've seen, a cut heals in 6-7 months. It seems like this is the type of cut that needs to be stitched both inside and out to achieve the best healing result. May is too soon; it's a rush. I believe the cut will reopen if they fight in May. Personally, as a coach, I would postpone the fight to June or July to be more confident. The longer the recovery time, the better it will be for the eye," said Ali Bashir.

The fight between Fury and Usyk was postponed from February 17th to May 18th due to the cut Tyson received in sparring.
