Atlas Names Unexpected Figure as the Face of Boxing

American coach Teddy Atlas has characterized Turki Al Sheikh, the head of Saudi Arabia's Entertainment Authority, and shared his thoughts on Al Sheikh's influence on modern boxing.

"Right now, Turki Al Sheikh is the face of boxing. If you look at things realistically, is Canelo the face of boxing? No. Is Fury? No. The face of boxing is Turki Al Sheikh because he makes all these boxing nights possible.

We need events that satisfy people. When was the last time we had an undisputed champion in the heavyweight division? It's been a long time, and now we have the Fury vs. Usyk fight on May 18th.

Saudi Arabia will once again spread boxing around the world. The sport is healthy and relevant again, and that's what matters most. Because not long ago, boxing was considered a niche sport," stated Atlas.

The fight for the absolute world heavyweight championship (over 90.7 kg) between titleholder Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs) and WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) will take place on May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Turki Al Sheikh has called this match the biggest in history.
