Bob Arum, the head of the Top Rank promotional company, spoke about the reasons behind the police detention of his super heavyweight client, American Jared Anderson (16-0, 15 KOs), on the eve of his return.
"He's a young guy. What he did was wrong - racing cars and all that. Many of these kids do it. But he didn't hit anyone in a bar or steal anything. He behaved like some 23-24-year-old kids do - did foolish things. Now, thank God, he lost his driving license, so he can't get behind the wheel. He's really a good guy, a really fun guy with the best smile - he will have the best test against this Belgian fighter, Merhi, who has an excellent resume. I think, considering the rest of this year and next year, by 2026 Jared will be fighting for the world heavyweight title and become the next big super heavyweight," said Arum.
In March, Anderson was arrested by the police for committing a third-degree felony - he tried to flee from the police at high speed and crashed into a guardrail. Subsequently, Jared was released on bail and apologized to the fans for his behavior. On the night of April 14th in Corpus Christi, Texas, Anderson will have a 10-round fight with Ryad Merhi (32-2, 26 KOs). Here we talked about other fights that will take place this week.
