Arum Plans Title Fight for Anderson

Top Rank's head Bob Arum has shared his plans for organizing a world championship title fight for his super heavyweight prospect, Jared Anderson (16-0, 15 KOs).

"Next year, Jared will face names like Deontay Wilder, Joseph Parker, Zhilei Zhang, or Joe Joyce. My goal is to have him fighting for a world title by 2026. I truly believe Jared has all the components to become a champion. But again, it's a long road ahead, and there are challenges waiting for him. We've always had high hopes for him. Jared is in really good shape – if Jared is in top form, there are few, if any, heavyweights around who can beat him. He's going to fight the tough guy Merhi, who also has a lot of experience. This is the right fight for Jared at this stage of his career. If he succeeds on Saturday, we look forward to having him fight again very quickly in Toledo this summer, and again later this year," said Arum.

Anderson's next fight is scheduled for the night of April 14th in Corpus Christi, Texas, against the Belgian Ryad Merhi (32-2, 26 KOs), who won his last fight against the Frenchman Tony Yoka.
