Arum: "Hearn Used Saudi Money to Sign Shakur"

Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum has commented on the signing of his former client, WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs), by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.

"Well, you know Hearn used Saudi money to sign Shakur. Shakur is a great fighter, an incredible talent, and I really like him. We made Stevenson a big offer, which he declined for some reason. So I just wish him the best of luck," said Arum.

In July, Shakur Stevenson won a unanimous decision against Artem Harutyunyan (12-2, 7 KOs). That was his final fight under contract with Top Rank. The promotional company made a new offer, but Stevenson chose not to accept it.
