Top Rank's head honcho Bob Arum just rang the bell for a sizzling matchup: Ukrainian powerhouse Denys Berinchyk (18-0, 9 KOs) is set to tangle with Mexico's ring warrior Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs) for the WBO lightweight belt, tipping the scales under 61.2 kg.
"Shakur was eyeballing a scrap with WBO featherweight champ Navarrete, who's now climbing up to lightweight territory. But the word from on high is Navarrete's gotta duke it out with Berinchik for the title shot. And folks, it's on," declared Arum.
The countdown started Jan. 30, with both camps getting a 15-day shot clock to hash out the deal. Navarrete's shaking off a stalemate against Robson Conceicao from his last outing, while Berinchyk's riding high off a judges' nod over Anthony Yigit. Get ready to rumble!
