Swedish lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) representative Anthony Yigit (29-4-1, 10 KOs) has announced his retirement at the age of 32.
"I think I am now retiring from boxing and will be focusing on other things I've created in my life. You no longer need to look for fights with me. Thank you for pushing me one last time towards a world title fight. I can honestly say that I did everything I could and that I can retire knowing that this is no longer something I want to pursue," Yigit wrote.
In August last year, Anthony faced Ukrainian Denys Berinchyk for the WBO International lightweight title and lost by unanimous decision. Other losses on the Swede's record also came in the biggest fights of his career – against Keyshawn Davis, Rolando Romero for the "interim" WBA title, and Ivan Baranchyk for the IBF junior welterweight title (up to 63.5 kg).
Yigit's last bout was in January 2024 against Yamshid Nazari, which he won by unanimous decision.
