Promising American heavyweight (over 90.7 kg) Jared Anderson (17-0, 15 KOs) commented on his lackluster victory over Belgian Ryad Merhy (32-3, 26 KOs).
"I wanted to give the fans a better show, but what can you do when they don't want to fight the way you fight.
Ten rounds—that's the biggest takeaway. I need to make some changes. I made some mistakes. I took a few punches, but I really shouldn't have been hit at all because Merhy didn't even come to fight.
As much as I love the fans, they can't take care of me if I get hurt or sustain a brain injury or something like that. So, my goal is to take the minimum hits because that's what I was trying to do tonight. I tried to take the least amount of hits and just win. It was an ugly night of boxing, man, but I got the win, so we move on.
Big names in the division? I want them all. If I'm ranked with you and your name is next to mine, I can break you, man. I'm after those titles, and I'm after the damn win," said Anderson. On April 13, Jared Anderson defeated Ryad Merhy by unanimous decision.
