Anderson: "I Can't Fight for a World Title"

24-year-old American heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson (16-0, 15 KOs) contemplates ending his career without ever becoming a world champion.

"I can't fight for a world title. Only the organizations can sanction that. All I can do is keep winning and tell people I want to fight them, but I can't force anyone to put their name on the dotted line of a contract. I can try to convince one of the organizations to sanction me as a contender, but I can't make it happen as quickly as the fans want. They see I've been in the rankings for years and say, 'Oh, you're fighting nobodies.' No, I've been in the rankings for a long time because they know what I'm capable of. I can't make any of the champions put their title up for a fight against me because they know they'll lose. If they don't want to take the risk, I can't force them. I know what I can do and what I'm good at. How long will this last? I see Gervonta Davis making big money without holding a title. If I can do the same, if I can get big fights with big names without titles, then so be it. Then I might end my career early, not being a world champion," Anderson said.

Jared Anderson's next fight is against Ryad Merhi (32-2, 26 KOs) on April 13th in Corpus Christi, USA.
