The Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) has lifted the temporary suspension of the world lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg), Alycia Baumgardner (15-1, 7 KOs).
"Despite public criticism and falsehoods, I remain strong and confident. My light shines brightly, driven by God's love. I am a courageous woman, unwavering in my journey," Baumgardner wrote on her social networks.
Baumgardner last boxed on July 15, 2023, when she defeated Christina Linardatou (14-3, 6 KOs) by unanimous decision, avenging the sole defeat of her career, which occurred in 2018.
In August 2023, it was revealed that the champion had tested positive for a doping substance, Mesterolone.
Following a re-examination, the ABC concluded the athlete was not guilty. After an extensive investigation, the WBC recognized Baumgardner as "innocent of intentionally taking or using a banned substance to enhance performance."
Previously, Baumgardner had discussed the possibility of a fight against the undisputed world champion, Claressa Shields (15-0, 2 KOs).
