Alvarez: "Who Is He to Offer Me Money?"

Between March 19th and 20th, the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) from Mexico, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs), held his first press conference dedicated to his next bout against Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs). There, he was asked about his potential showdown against David Benavidez and whether Benavidez had offered him a fight.

"He didn't offer anything. And who is he to offer me money?

If he offered the amount he mentioned – I can get that amount with anyone. Trivial. He brings nothing to the table for me," declared Alvarez.

The Canelo vs. Munguia fight is set for May 4th in Las Vegas. It will be Alvarez's first fight against a Mexican boxer since 2017, when he won by decision against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
