Alvarez had a staredown battle with Ryder

Saul Alvarez has confirmed the date and location of his upcoming fight. The super middleweight absolute world champion will face mandatory WBO contender John Ryder on May 6th at the Akron Stadium arena in Guadalajara, Mexico. The fighters have already had their first press conference, including the traditional stare down after the conference.

Notably, this will be Canelo's first fight in his home country since November 2011. In his most recent fight in September 2022, Alvarez successfully defended his titles with a unanimous decision victory over Gennady Golovkin.
