Expert: "It's Hard for Fans Not to Blame Canelo"

Recently, Mexican undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) stated that he would fight David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) for $150-200 million.

American boxing analyst Chris Algieri commented on Canelo's financial appetites.

"Everything changes when you have a bit of money. Canelo has been in this business for a very long time. He's made some smart moves and earned a lot of money. Now he wants to earn even more because his career is nearing its end. He said he plans to have about five more fights.

It's hard for fans not to blame him, as we all are waiting for the big fight against Benavidez. But Alvarez himself said, 'In this fight, we need to make the right money.' He's just playing chess. If he decides to do it, it will finance his retirement," said Algieri.

On the night of May 5, Saul Alvarez won by unanimous decision against Jaime Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs) and defended his undisputed champion title for the fourth time.
