Alvarez defeated Golovkin via unanimous decision

In the main event of the boxing evening in Las Vegas (USA) at the T-Mobile Arena , the undisputed world super middleweight champion, Mexican Saul Alvarez (58-2-2; 39 KOs) defeated Kazakh Gennady Golovkin (42-2-1 ) by unanimous decision ;37 KOs).

Despite the star sign, the duel itself turned out to be rather monotonous, in some ways even boring. For nine rounds, the audience watched the boxers work from a long distance, relying solely on the jab. With varying frequency, this pace suited either Golovkin or Alvarez.

The fans saw the first really striking attacks at the end of the tenth round, when Golovkin exploded with a powerful deuce. It seemed that the Mexican was even somewhat confused, clinging to the ropes, but Saul quickly came to his senses and managed to respond with his successful attack (jab and right side).

Rounds 11 and 12 were hard for the Mexican, he had to endure, as Golovkin began to work a little more actively, and Alvarez noticeably sat down and hung on his opponent at the first opportunity.

In the end, the judges gave the victory to Alvarez 116–112; 115-113; 115-113.

Recall in this match, the Ukrainians supported the undefeated Alvarez.

That this battle was the third full-time for rivals. The first time the fight ended in a draw, and in the second - a victory with a minimum margin for Saul.
