The boxing shorts of former heavyweight world champion Muhammad Ali, worn during his third fight against Joe Frazier, have been put up for auction. The lot is listed on Sotheby's platform. The website states that the estimated price for which it can be purchased ranges from $4 to $6 million. The highest bid made so far is $3.8 million.
The auction will conclude on April 12th.
The third fight between Ali and Frazier was dubbed "The Thriller in Manila." It took place on October 1, 1975, in the capital of the Philippines, Manila. Ali won by technical knockout after the 14th round. In his corner, he asked his team to remove his gloves and was ready to stop the meeting due to exhaustion, but Frazier's team did so earlier – Ali won by RTD 14.
