Former world champion and now boxing analyst Chris Algieri explained why he believes three-division undisputed champion Terence Crawford shouldn’t face former Light Heavyweight undisputed champion Dmitry Bivol.
“This fight is a bad idea. Bivol doesn’t move like a big guy. He’s not slow at all. He gets in and out quickly, works actively with the jab.
He’s tall. Bivol is taller than Crawford and stylistically a very difficult opponent. Canelo fights flat-footed, and a smaller fighter can have a chance against him.
Bivol is never flat-footed — always on his toes. That makes the fight extremely difficult for Crawford,” Algieri said.
Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) defeated Saul Alvarez in his last fight to become undisputed at Super Middleweight. Bivol (24-1, 12 KOs) faced Artur Beterbiev in his last two bouts — first losing, then winning.
