Spencer Brown, manager of WBC interim heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel, has revealed that his client might vacate the belt.
“We all know the news about Usyk potentially fighting Wilder. It’s not a mandatory defense. You know, I’m not very happy about it, but he deserves it. To me, he is the champion. He deserves whatever he wants. If they want to let him fight whoever he wants, that’s great.
But I would really love to make the Kabayel vs. Usyk fight here in Germany. He likes the idea of fighting Usyk, and so do I. Don’t forget about the Ukrainians. The largest number of Ukrainians outside of Ukraine is in Germany.
So it would be a massive fight. It would truly be like a homecoming for him. Also, the border with Poland is right here. So I think this fight makes a lot of sense. I really believe Agit is Usyk’s kryptonite.
Unfortunately, Agit wants to move on, and he wants to win a title. Whether that’s the WBC title, or if we have to give up the WBC and move toward another belt. He wants to win a world title. He wants to fight for a world title, just like everyone else,” Brown said.
Kabayel's (26-0, 18 KOs) next fight will take place on January 10. His opponent will be the Polish boxer Damian Knyba.
