Agit Kabayel: "The Fight with Bakole Didn’t Fall Through Because of Me"

German heavyweight Agit Kabayel (25-0, 17 KOs) has addressed the cancellation of his fight against Congolese boxer Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs).

Earlier, Bakole’s trainer, Billy Nelson, claimed that Kabayel withdrew from negotiations for the bout, which was supposed to determine the mandatory challenger for the IBF world title. However, Kabayel insists that the fight fell apart due to Bakole’s excessive financial demands.

"I just want the fans to know that the fight didn’t fall through because of me. I have never ducked a fight. I have never avoided opponents. I’ve always wanted to fight the best in the world.

Bakole wanted too much money, and the fight was on the verge of collapse. I kept hearing they were negotiating with Bakole, but everything fell apart because he was too stubborn and greedy," Kabayel stated.

In May, Kabayel scored a knockout victory over Frank Sanchez. In August, Bakole secured a stoppage win against Jared Anderson.
