Insider Michael Benson reported that promoter George Rose, representing the interests of the mandatory IBF contender in the junior bantamweight division (up to 55.2 kg) Sam Goodman (17-0, 7 KOs), is in talks with Bob Arum about the possibility of a fight between his client and the undisputed champion in the junior bantamweight division, Naoya Inoue (26-0, 23 KOs).
The fight is planned to be held this year in Australia.
First, Inoue will defend his title against the mandatory WBC contender Luis Nery (35-1, 27 KOs). The bout is planned for May 6 in Japan.
In December, Naoya Inoue won by knockout in the 10th round against Marlon Tapales (37-4, 19 KOs), and Goodman, in the same month, unanimously defeated Zhong Liu (19-1, 7 KOs).
