Knockout News: WBC Considers Two-Minute Rounds for Male Boxers

World Boxing Council (WBC) head honcho Mauricio Sulaiman weighed in on welterweight world champ Amanda Serrano's decision to vacate the WBC title. Her beef? The Council's nix on her bid for 12 three-minute round bouts. Sulaiman hinted at a twist for the men's matches:

"We've doubled down on safety and stand by our studies. If you want to play with fire, the WBC's not your ring. It could be a coincidence, but two-minute rounds are dynamite - short but pack a punch. Stretching the rounds? That's playing with danger - dehydration and fatigue are real knockouts. We're big fans of the two-minute bouts, safety first, but they're also a heck of a show.

We're actually toying with the idea of testing two-minute rounds in men's bouts. Could be a real game-changer," said Sulaiman.

A heads-up: most women's boxing matches are already slugging it out with two-minute rounds. And hey, Ready To Fight and WBC just clinched a deal at the Council's recent meet-up.
