Serhii Derevyanchenko Falls to Jaime Mungia in WBC Silver Belt Bout

Serhii Derevyanchenko, the Ukrainian multi-time middleweight title challenger, was defeated by former first middleweight division champion and undefeated Mexican, Jaime Munguia.

The contest took place from Saturday night into Sunday, June 11, at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, USA. It served as the main event in a night of boxing from Golden Boy Promotions, with the vacant WBC Silver belt up for grabs.
Right from the start, both fighters engaged in an intense exchange of blows, eschewing any preliminary feelers. In the fifth round, Derevyanchenko came close to securing an early victory, but the resilient Mexican held on.

Nevertheless, the closing rounds saw Mungia outperform his adversary, even managing to send the Ukrainian to the canvas during the final three minutes. Though Derevyanchenko persevered until the final bell, the victory went to Mungia. The judges unanimously declared him the winner with scores of 115-112, 114-113, and 114-113.

This marked Munguia's 42nd victory in professional boxing, while Derevyanchenko suffered his fifth defeat, the fourth in his last five fights.
