Former three-weight division world champion Vasyl Lomachenko will receive significantly less money for his fight against Devin Haney than for his previous bouts. The main objective for the Ukrainian boxer is to capture the undisputed title.
Less than a month remains before one of the most anticipated fights of 2023, in which Vasyl Lomachenko will face lightweight world champion Devin Haney. This fight represents the Ukrainian boxer's last chance to return to the pinnacle of the sport.
To secure this match, Hi-Tech made considerable financial concessions. Loma has repeatedly stated that money is not his top priority. The promoters have fully capitalized on the former world champion's willingness to compromise.
According to a source, Lomachenko will receive $900,000 for his bout with Haney. This purse is even less than what he earned for his previous fight against Ortiz, where he made a net income of $1.2 million.
Loma received a million-dollar payday during his previous attempt to become undisputed champion in 2020. At the time, the Ukrainian boxer was favored to win against Teofimo Lopez, but after 12 rounds, the judges awarded the victory to the American. Despite the loss, Vasyl's earnings increased by $3.25 million, marking the largest payday of his career.
The fight between Lomachenko and Haney is scheduled for May 20th in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
