Former Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder, 39, has opened up about how much longer he intends to stay active in professional boxing.
“I’ve got ten years left. Will I dedicate myself to it fully? I’ve got ten years to do what I need to do, to enjoy this short time while I’m here, and I’ll spend it having a great time.
No doubt, I’ll be fighting at 50. You have to understand: in the Heavyweight division, we usually last longer than others. We’re big guys, and our division isn’t as packed as the lighter ones. We also take less damage than smaller fighters. Most of them finish their careers around 30,” Wilder said.
Recently, Wilder also commented on the possibility of fighting American influencer and boxer Jake Paul.
In June, Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) stopped Tyrell Herndon in the seventh round. Before that, he had suffered four defeats in five bouts.
