Queensberry Promotions head Frank Warren recently revealed the upcoming plans for his rising British heavyweight prospect, Moses Itauma (10-0, 8 KOs).
“We’ve been discussing his next fight over the last few days. We’ll make an announcement within a week.
He told me that he wants to fight Joseph Parker in his next bout. You heard that right. He said, ‘I really want that fight.’ I think it’s very possible within the next 12 months if he continues progressing at this rate.
I don’t want to rush him because he’s still very young. When it comes to physical maturity, he still has room to grow. Just imagine how strong he’ll be when he hits his peak—it’s quite intimidating. He’s eager, and it’s my job, along with his manager’s, to hold him back a little and pick the right fights at the right time.
But I’m impressed by his enthusiasm, and I fully believe in him,” said Warren.
On July 27, Moses Itauma secured a second-round TKO victory over Mariusz Wach (38-11, 20 KOs).
Joseph Parker has been out of the ring since March, when he defeated Zhilei Zhang by majority decision to claim the interim WBO heavyweight title (over 90.7 kg).
