British light heavyweight Anthony Yarde believes he has the power to knock out his next opponent — WBC light heavyweight champion David Benavidez.
“These are the kinds of big fights I came into the sport for — to be part of matchups everyone is talking about. And for me — if I land on Benavidez, the fight is over.
Especially with the way I’m training right now. I’m sure he’s training like crazy too, because he wants to make a statement. But I just know: if I land on any light heavyweight in the world — I win. And that’s what excites me so much.
You know, I’m not someone who tries to ‘sell’ myself or say: ‘I’m the best’. In boxing, everything must be proven. I’m the underdog in this fight for a reason. That’s exactly what motivates me.
In boxing, you have to earn your place. If I become world champion, I want to do it in a fight like this — against a real, solid champion. Deep inside, I feel like this fight was given to me for a reason,” Yarde said.
The fight between Anthony Yarde (30-0, 24 KOs) and David Benavidez (26-3, 24 KOs) will headline the card in Riyadh on November 22.
