Sulaiman Discusses Whether Fury Could Be Stripped of the WBC Title

Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the World Boxing Council (WBC), shared his thoughts on whether his organization is considering stripping Tyson Fury of his championship title.

"We haven't received any requests to make such a decision. Absolutely not. It's just the tension of the moment and disappointment.

You have to understand that there's a lot at stake in this fight. So, if you learn about the postponement of the fight – your day becomes very bad.

Could we think about stripping Fury of the title if the fight doesn't take place on May 18th? I won't speculate on this topic. Imagine what it would be like if I thought about what could happen. A lot happens in life.

As the president of the WBC, I am very proud of our champion Tyson Fury. Tyson has proven time and again that he is the best heavyweight.

I am very proud of Usyk; we are friends. Oleksandr was the WBC heavyweight champion, he is a good friend of mine, and we communicate frequently.

So, the winner of this fight will become a legend," said Sulaiman.

Tyson Fury will defend his WBC belt in a fight against the WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO, and The Ring champion Oleksandr Usyk. The bout is scheduled for May 18th.
