Undisputed world champion in the super bantamweight division (up to 55.3 kg) Naoya Inoue (29-0, 26 KOs) shared his thoughts on a possible showdown against WBC featherweight champion Junto Nakatani (29-0, 22 KOs).
“For me, this has never been a real question or focus, since we are still competing in different weight classes. Yes, it’s a fight we can talk about later. But right now, we both have urgent goals that don’t involve each other. I know who I will be fighting this year. Nakatan hasn’t even moved up a weight class yet, so there’s no reason to mention his name right now,” Inoue stated.
On January 24, Naoya Inoue knocked out Kim E. Jun in the fourth round. In October, Junito Nakatan defeated Tatsuya Salapata by technical knockout in the sixth round. Nakatan’s next opponent will be David Cuellar on February 24.
