Former world champion Amir Khan shared his expectations for the bout between WBC heavyweight (over 90,7 kg) champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and the holder of the WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO titles, Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).
"I hope Tyson will be 100 percent ready, but there's little time. He's only been given three months after the cut. Normally, it takes a month and a half to heal, but the skin there will still be weak. I think Usyk now has an even bigger advantage. He had an advantage before the fight, but now, obviously, it's even greater.
If Tyson gets too confident, he could get caught out. You have to understand that Usyk is a precise puncher, he knows when to throw punches, he has excellent timing. He's an Olympic champion, a great fighter. Credit where credit's due.
Tyson needs to keep his distance, box with him, and not take hits to the eye because, as I said, I don't know if three months is enough. After all, the cut was significant," Khan said.
Amir Khan hasn't stepped into the ring since February 2022, following a technical knockout loss to Kell Brook (40-3, 28 KOs).
The fight for the undisputed heavyweight world title between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
