Detailed Fight Review
It once seemed like these two would never share a ring. Their fight was originally scheduled for 2023 but fell through — and fans were rightfully disappointed.
First, because there’s history. The rivalry between the fathers of Conor and Chris is one of the most iconic in British boxing history. Second, because stylistically, this can’t be a boring fight.
Benn is a relentless, aggressive fighter. Total pressure, heavy punches, combinations that work head and body — it’s all there.
Eubank Jr. is the more technical boxer — more fluid, mobile, and versatile. But at times, he trusts his skills too much and gets caught with shots he shouldn’t be taking. That means both fighters will have their chances.
Benn is 28 — seven years younger than his opponent. He also has noticeably less experience at the highest level. The biggest name on his record is Chris Algieri, who was already at the tail end of his career when they fought. There were a few other solid opponents, but no one on that level.
For Eubank Jr., this is far from his first mega-fight. Back in 2017, he fought Arthur Abraham. He featured in another huge British derby — against George Groves. He stopped Matvey Korobov, fought Liam Smith twice, and lived through career highs, crushing lows, and comebacks.
Benn’s fighting style revolves around pressure and inflicting maximum damage. So it’s no surprise that he throws more punches than his opponent.
At the same time, in his last fight, Eubank Jr. showed excellent accuracy. The key question now is whether those numbers will hold up when facing a fighter who applies relentless pressure and doesn’t allow room to breathe.
Benn last fought more than once in a year back in 2021. Since then, it’s been the usual one fight per year.
Eubank Jr. doesn’t fight often either. Last year, he only fought Kamil Szeremeta (TKO 7). In 2023, he was forced into the ring twice — first losing to Liam Smith, then immediately avenging that defeat with a knockout win.
Benn looks like a powerhouse in the ring. His knockout of Algieri was a highlight-reel demonstration of raw strength. But overall, Eubank Jr. punches no softer — the difference is in how they deliver.
Benn breaks opponents down with sheer pressure and aggression. Eubank Jr. catches opponents clean and finishes them off.
No one has seriously tested Benn’s chin yet. That task now falls to Eubank Jr..
As for Chris, he can be dropped by a clean shot. He has no serious chin issues, but Liam Smith showed how quickly Eubank Jr. can be stopped — precisely with pressure and mid-range work, where Benn excels.
Both will fight for the first time at Tottenham Arena. There’s no clear advantage here. This is a massive British derby — the crowd will roar for both, and the atmosphere will be electric.
Handling that pressure will be key. Success will partly depend on who copes better with the occasion.
Eubank Jr. has made it clear — for him, this fight is everything. The most important fight of his career.
A continuation of what his father started in two classic bouts against Nigel Benn. Especially now, with Chris aged 35 and time running out in his career.
For Benn, this fight became even more personal when Eubank Jr. smashed an egg on his face during the press conference. Conor is fired up and angry. That’s fine a month before the fight, but in fight week, it’ll be crucial not to lose focus in the heat of emotions.
The stadium is sold out, the attention is massive. The winner takes everything.
