Malik Scott, trainer of former world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, shared with Ready to Fight his top three boxing matchups he hopes to see in 2025.
"The first is Zurdo Ramirez vs. Jai Opetaia. Two incredible fighters, two exciting styles, both southpaws. Both have power and are excellent at targeting the body.
In terms of boxing IQ, I think Zurdo is better. However, Opetaia has a lot of strengths that could give Ramirez trouble. His boxing intelligence is solid, but not quite at Zurdo's level, in my opinion.
The second is Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson. A power puncher versus a smart boxer. Shakur is an excellent body puncher. This is a major fight every fan would want to see.
The third is Terence Crawford vs. Canelo Alvarez. A fantastic matchup. Crawford believes he’s the best and is ready to jump up two weight classes, which says a lot about him as a boxer.
Canelo says this is his division, and it would be an easy fight for him. I’ve never heard Crawford claim it would be easy, though," Scott said.
Earlier, insider Mike Coppinger named the most likely month for a Crawford vs. Canelo fight.
