On January 10 in Oberhausen, Germany, the next fight of interim WBC Heavyweight champion Agit Kabayel will take place, as he faces Polish heavyweight Damian Knyba.

A press conference announcing the bout was held on November 5. There, Knyba stated that he is aiming for an early finish:

I worked hard to get this opportunity, and my dream came true. The fight will be tough, but it’s a great chance. I think it’s incredible.

I know what awaits me, since the fight will take place on his territory. It’s a lot of pressure, but I believe in myself. I am striving for a knockout. My goal is to bring the world championship title to Poland and become part of Polish history. That gives me additional motivation,” Knyba said.

Kabayel is happy to be fighting at home again, but also mentioned he is targeting higher-level opponents in the future:

It’s incredible to return home again, to box in front of my fans, and I plan to make the arena shake on January 10. This fight shows the whole world that I can fill arenas in Germany. Let’s make German boxing big again.

I want the best possible fights for myself, but right now, Knyba is in front of me. After that, we can talk about the future. First, we must solve this task.

In previous fights, I was the underdog, but I never felt like one. I showed that I can compete with the best fighters in the world. I belong at the very top. And thankfully, we are here today,” Kabayel said.

Earlier, Kabayel stated that Daniel Dubois’ team declined a fight.
