“It’s the dream fight.” David Allen Names His Ideal Opponent After Makhmudov

British heavyweight David Allen revealed who he wants to fight next if he defeats Arslanbek Makhmudov.

You know what I’ve been telling everyone? I want to fight Anthony Joshua. That’s the dream fight for any active heavyweight. I still think it’s the most lucrative matchup out there. I used to spar him three times a week.

I just told Rob McCracken (Joshua’s former trainer) that I used to break AJ down in sparring three times a week. He just laughed, knowing it’s not true. But that’s been my dream. I’d love to box him — we used to be good friends,” Allen told Froch on Fighting.

The fight between David Allen (24-7-2, 19 KOs) and Arslanbek Makhmudov (20-2, 19 KOs) will take place on October 11 at Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, United Kingdom. Full broadcast information about the fight can be found at the link.

Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) last fought in September 2024, when he was knocked out in the fifth round by Daniel Dubois. In May 2025, the former world champion underwent elbow surgery. Joshua has been offered a fight in Africa, with Martin Bakole listed among potential opponents.
