Zhilei vs. Chisora: Zhang Agrees to Briton’s Terms

Chinese Heavyweight Zhilei Zhang has agreed to the terms of a fight against British veteran Derek Chisora, Sky Sports reports. Zhang’s team is now waiting for official confirmation from the Briton’s camp.

Chisora is targeting a return to the ring on December 13, which would mark the 50th fight of his professional career — and likely his last.

Zhang’s manager Terry Lane revealed that the offer had been on the table for several weeks:

“We didn’t make it public because our team — and Zhang himself — aren’t the type to rush to social media. But we were offered the fight over three weeks ago, and we agreed within a few days. So it’s been more than three weeks since we said yes.

Queensberry wants to make the fight happen. DAZN loves the matchup. It’s part of the same event with Moses Itauma, likely as a co-main PPV bout. We just felt it was time to speak up in recent days — that’s why you’re seeing this information now.

Now it’s up to Chisora — whether he agrees or not. If he says no, I don’t know what direction they’ll go, but we’ll move on and probably refocus on a fight in China in January,” Lane said.

The 42-year-old Zhilei Zhang (27-3-1, 22 KOs) hasn’t fought since suffering a stoppage loss to Agit Kabayel, while the 41-year-old Derek Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) last defeated Otto Wallin.
