Official: Xander Zayas to Face Abbas Baraou

Top Rank Boxing has officially announced a Junior Middleweight (69.9 kg) bout between WBO champion Xander Zayas and WBA titleholder Abbas Baraou.

The matchup between the 23-year-old Puerto Rican and the 31-year-old German will take place on January 31 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Xander Zayas (22-0, 13 KOs) most recently defeated Jorge Garcia Perez by unanimous decision.

Abbas Baraou (17-1, 9 KOs) in his last outing also faced a Puerto Rican opponent — becoming the first man to defeat Yoenis Tellez (UD 12).
