Benavidez’s Father Offered Whittaker a Fight—Ben Says He Isn't Ready Yet

British light heavyweight boxer Ben Whittaker has revealed that he was contacted by the father and trainer of the current WBC Light Heavyweight champion, David Benavidez (31-0, 25 KOs). However, Whittaker admitted that he is not ready for that level of competition just yet.

“His dad messaged me on Instagram saying he’d love to make the fight happen. It shows I’m doing something right after 11 fights.

But for me, I need a bit more experience. I’ve still got things to work on. I think it will be a very big fight, maybe at Wembley. Skill-wise, I believe I’m better than the whole division,” Whittaker said.

Previously, David Benavidez Sr. stated on social media that he was ready to organize a showdown between his son and Whittaker (10-0-1, 7 KOs) in the UK. Currently, Ben holds the WBC light heavyweight title.
