The World Boxing Council (WBC) has stripped 31-year-old American Stephen Fulton of the world Featherweight title, reports insider Dan Rafael.

The WBC stripped Stephen Fulton of the title at 126 pounds, because he could not make weight even at 130 pounds, where he was moving up for the fight against Foster last week.

Interim WBC champion at 126 pounds Bruce Carrington was supposed to defend the title against Carlos Castro on January 31 — now the fight will take place for the vacant belt,” wrote Rafael.

To recall, the bout between O’Shaquie Foster (24-3, 12 KOs) and Stephen Fulton (23-2, 8 KOs) was initially supposed to take place for the WBC Super Featherweight title held by Foster, however, on the eve of the fight, Fulton failed the weigh-in. Afterward, the WBC announced that the fight would take place within the Lightweight limit for the organization’s interim title. Eventually, Foster won by unanimous decision and vacated this belt in favor of the WBC Super Featherweight champion title.
