Frank Warren, head of Queensberry Promotions and promoter of both Tyson Fury and Fabio Wardley, says he is open — and eager — to stage either clash between his fighters and the undisputed heavyweight king Oleksandr Usyk.
“I’d like to organize both fights. I represent both boxers and I won’t choose between them. Usyk has earned everything he has. He holds all four belts. He’s the guy who will decide who he wants to fight. He’s interested in the fights that bring the most money, and that’s what will influence his decision. The choice is his, not mine.
When will Usyk decide? I think very soon. The WBO convention begins tomorrow in Colombia, and this issue will be addressed there. We’ll be given time to negotiate. If we don’t reach an agreement, purse bids will take place. Whoever wins will set the date they want. After that, Usyk will have to either sign the contract or not. If he doesn’t, as I’ve said earlier, he could be stripped — which I hope won’t happen.” said Warren
On October 25, Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs) stopped Joseph Parker in the 11th round. Following the bout, the World Boxing Organization mandated Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) to defend his titles against Wardley.
