Warren: “Usyk Needs to Defend His Titles”

Queensberry Promotions head Frank Warren is awaiting the return of WBC, WBA, and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
“We’ll see what happens with Oleksandr Usyk. Because he’s only fought once this year. So, you know, it’s held up the big title fights a little bit. Next year, he needs to defend his titles.
If he doesn't, then he’s going to have to relinquish them, like he did with the WBO. So it’s a quite vibrant situation with all these guys fighting to get into their positions. As I said, there’s going to be some really quality fights in the heavyweight division, and I hope Oleksandr fights again next year.
I hope he does, because he's a great champion. I’ll be delighted to see him fight one of our fighters,” Warren said.
Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) last stepped into the ring in the summer of 2025, knocking out Daniel Dubois. Following that, he vacated the WBO heavyweight title, having no desire to face Fabio Wardley.
