British trainer Mark Tibbs has shared his thoughts on a potential fight between unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, who holds the WBA, WBC, IBF and IBO titles, and former champion Deontay Wilder.
– There’s another fight everyone is talking about right now: Deontay Wilder versus Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk is who we call the ‘Brit killer’ — he’s beaten them all. What kind of chance would you give Wilder?
– None. He’s not a good enough boxer.
– But he still has that big knockout power.
– I don’t think he’d be able to bring that power to bear against Usyk. That’s my opinion, Tibbs said.
Earlier, Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) expressed his desire to make Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) his next opponent. The date and venue of a potential clash have yet to be announced.
