Shakur Stevenson Reveals Condition for Gervonta Fight

WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson has outlined the key condition for securing a future showdown with WBA titleholder Gervonta “Tank” Davis — beating William Zepeda on July 12.

“Right now, my only focus is July 12. Of course I want to fight Gervonta Davis — I’ve been saying that for years. But honestly, if I don’t get past Zepeda, there won’t be a fight with Tank. Zepeda is my top priority, and I plan to take care of it,” said Stevenson.

“Also know that I’m not underestimating William Zepeda. This is a fighter who’s waited his entire life for this chance. I knew Zepeda when I was 15 or 16 — he was already focused. I understand this is his moment too, and I have to stay sharp and beat him. I’m coming to give the best performance of my career, and on July 12, Zepeda will remember my name.”

“He can’t do anything else. He can sit here and act like he’s got a Plan B, C, or D — but he has no other choice. He’ll come in trying to outwork me, overwhelm me, and intimidate me. I won’t allow that, so I don’t believe in the nonsense he’s saying.”

Stevenson and Zepeda are set to meet on July 12 in New York. Meanwhile, Gervonta Davis is expected to face Lamont Roach in a rematch. According to Jake Paul, negotiations are ongoing for a possible Davis vs Paul fight in late 2025.
