Brian Norman Sr., father of WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr., has revealed details of a major deal between former lightweight champion Devin Haney and Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalshikh.
“I know the deal Haney’s team made with Turki. We’re talking about 36 million dollars. They were looking for fights for Devin.
And then Turki tells Haney: ‘We’ve got a guy, and he’s already agreed.’ What are you going to do — back out and say, ‘No, let’s fight someone else’? Or say, ‘Alright, perfect. Let’s go’? What are you going to say? You’ll look like a coward.
Especially when they claim, ‘Devin Haney will fight anybody.’ He had no choice — he was forced to take this fight,” Norman Sr. said.
The fight Devin Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) vs. Brian Norman (28-0, 22 KOs) will take place on November 22 in Saudi Arabia.
