Naoya Inoue Defeats David Picasso via Unanimous Decision

On December 27, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as part of "The Ring V: Night of the Samurai," a bout for the undisputed super bantamweight championship (up to 55.3 kg) took place between the 32-year-old Japanese titleholder Naoya Inoue (32-0, 27 KOs) and 25-year-old Mexican David Picasso (32-1, 17 KOs).

The fight concluded with a unanimous decision victory for Inoue: 119-109, 120-108, and 117-111. Result: UD 12.

This was Inoue's fourth bout of 2025. He became the first boxer since Larry Holmes to defend The Ring title four times within a single calendar year. For Picasso, this was his second encounter with a Japanese opponent this year—following his majority decision win over Kyonosuke Kameda. This marks the first defeat of his professional career.
