Frank Warren: “Moses Itauma will not fight on December 13”

Queensberry Promotions founder and CEO Frank Warren has clarified whether rising British heavyweight prospect Moses Itauma will box on December 13.

“No, because if we announce that he’s fighting on that date, the WBA will say he’s not ready for the fight with Pulev — and we don’t want that.

We have to see what happens with the Pulev situation because the WBA sanctioned that fight, and he can’t just walk away from it. Let’s see how things unfold.

They’re talking about a fight with Gassiev in Dubai, but as far as I’m aware, the WBA hasn’t sanctioned that bout. How can one fight be sanctioned when another has already been ordered? So for now, that’s the situation,” Warren said.

Initially, 20-year-old Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) was expected to return on December 13 in Manchester, United Kingdom, on the same card as Derek Chisora. However, reports later suggested the bout could be moved to February 7.

Previously, the World Boxing Association (WBA) ordered Kubrat Pulev to defend his WBA World title against Itauma. Instead, the Bulgarian is scheduled to face Murat Gassiev on December 12 in Dubai, UAE.
