On September 14 in Nagoya, Japan, WBO Bantamweight champion Yoshiki Takei (11-0, 9 KOs), age 29, faced 25-year-old Mexican Cristian Medina Jimenez (25-4, 18 KOs).
In the very first round, Takei was dropped for the first time in his career. By the fourth round, Medina cornered the Japanese fighter and unleashed a flurry, forcing the referee to stop the contest — TKO 4.
Medina entered this fight on a run of four straight stoppage victories, one of which came earlier in 2025. For Takei, this was also his second outing of the year; in his previous fight, he had won by first-round TKO.
