Lapin Offers Wardley Title-Defense Options — and a “Solution” to the Itauma Problem

Team director for three-time undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk, Serhii Lapin, said who WBO champion Fabio Wardley could face in a defense of the belt the Brit received after Usyk declined to take the fight.
He also explained what Wardley and Moses Itauma could do if they don’t want to box each other because both train under Ben Davison.
“If they’re trained by the same coach, they could play for the belt in cards instead of fighting each other. That’s how realistic this fight looks.
Chisora would be another good option for Wardley to defend the title that Usyk gave him. Both are exciting, tough fighters. A strong option for a title fight,” Lapin said.
Earlier, Frank Warren, the promoter for both Wardley and Itauma, said a fight between Moses and Fabio is impossible precisely because of the shared trainer.
Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) will fight next on January 24, with American Jermaine Franklin set as his opponent. Wardley’s (20-0-1, 19 KOs) next opponent is currently unknown.
